Boating and fishing
Medemblik is rich in fishing and water recreation opportunities. Discover Medemblik from the water! With a boat you sail through the canals and narrow ditches of the city. With views of historic buildings and facades. Moor along the way and enjoy! Tuff on to Egboetswater recreation area for a picnic or stop for some goodies, for example at the steam engine museum. You can fish everywhere except the harbors. You’ll find carp, pike & whitefish, among others, in the inland waters.

Taking a boat out, our fishing and boating map in hand. Be surprised and surrounded by our beautiful area.Egboetswater
The green Egboetswater is a vast and wetland area. Many birds come here to find food and other animals also feel at home. It is also a good place for fishermen. You can moor your boat here.
The Vliet
You can reach the Grote and Kleine Vliet directly from the two vacation parks near Medemblik town. Before you know it, you are surrounded by rural nature and grazing cows stare languidly at you. Tuff on to recreation area Egboetswater for a picnic or stop by for refreshments, for example at the Steam Engine Museum.
The Vooroever
This recreational area runs from Medemblik to Andijk and, together with the Nesbos, is 144 hectares in size. You can sunbathe, swim, water sports, play, bike, walk. Beach is interspersed with nature.
Koopmanspolder
This outer dike area is actually a testing ground for the water management of the future. A flexible water level has turned it into an interplay of nature, water, landscape art and recreation.
The Nesbos
The Nesbos is 10 acres and is part of The Foreshore. The area consists of trees, shrubs and grassland. There is also a sandy beach.
The IJsselmeer
The former raging Zuiderzee behind the Omringdijk has changed into the calm IJsselmeer with the construction of the Afsluitdijk. Here you seek refreshment on a hot summer day at one of the many beaches.
The most beautiful fishing spot in Andijk!
Fishing has been going on at the Visput in Andijk since 1937. Today, fishing enthusiasts can be found daily during the opening season.
The Visput in Andijk is open during the opening season from morning one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset. The Visput is accessible for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. The toilet area is adapted for wheelchair users, and it is always open.

Beautiful routes! In Medemblik you can easily spend one night in a Bed & Breakfast or on your sloop if it is suitable for this. In the Westerhaven there are nice moorings for the sloop, in the middle of the city center, within walking distance of the stores, restaurants, terraces and museums.
It is also fun with a group with several sloops. For this there is a special mooring in our harbor. Ask for more information at the Stadshavens Medemblik.

The Fishing Pass
There is something for every novice or experienced angler in this wetland area! However, you do need a valid VISpas.
Unfortunately it is not possible to fish throughout the Netherlands with a document. This has to do with ownership situations. At each association of which you are a member you get a VISpas. But only at 1 of those associations do you have to pay the national contribution. The VISpas is available at various locations in the municipality.
