The Preachermen – Royal Flush

  • Saturday 7 December, 20:15 – 21:30 hour

Rating saxophone cries, gritty deep-grooving Hammond organ, back beats that make sitting still practically impossible.

The new album ‘Royal Flush’ was released by ZenneZ Records at the beginning of 2024, so it is time for a tour through the Netherlands! Whether they play a moody late night ballad or a stirring groove piece, this super trio consisting of saxophonist Efraïm Trujillo, organist Rob Mostert and drummer Chris Strik, always sounds soulful.

The leading role is reserved for the atmospheric sax and the unique Eb blueshorn with open tone holes of band leader Trujillo, who also plays in The Ploctones and is musical director of the Amsterdam Funk Orchestra. Rob Mostert plays the pedals of his B3 organ with bare feet, so the music literally comes from his toes. Drummer Chris Strik was praised in Slagwerkkrant as ‘the most agile drummer in the Netherlands’.

Trujillo blows the silence to pieces, Mostert effortlessly finds the blues from the title and Strik defines the rhythm with targeted strokes. This is the music in which this trio excels: jazz, blues and gospel, played with complete dedication. ‘ (Ben Taffijn, nieuwnoten.nl)
