Joost Spijkers – Au Plat Pays

This autumn, Joost will be presenting new ‘Au Plat Pays’ concerts, named after Jacques Brel’s song. The flat land, where there is plenty of room for Joost to sing about life, together with his musicians, in an intimate chamber concert. Beautiful chansons in the tradition of Aznavour, Brel and Shaffy and mainly from my own hand. Because the trio of cello, bass clarinet and viola has a completely different appearance and sound than the SPIJKERS band, a new sound is created. De Groene Amsterdammer explained very well why Joost Spijkers is such a big name in theater land: “ Joost is so much more than a singer. He is a great actor and song performer: sometimes soft and tender, sometimes bitter and hard, sometimes downright clownish .”

Well-known and new repertoire form a powerful and melancholic program in which there is certainly room for humor. Joost takes the audience by the hand to his world, where people sing and dance and where life is celebrated because he loves life so passionately.
